We know that “tick season” is usually open from April to October, but this year’s mild winter was very much to ticks’ liking. According to the Estonian Health Board, ticks become active when the ground temperature is 5-7 degrees above zero (Celsius).
Do not compromise on your quality of life; have the vaccine now. Tick-borne encephalitis is dangerous and can result in serious complications.
You can get vaccinated against encephalitis all year round and the prime vaccination includes three doses. The vaccine is usually administered at intervals of 1-3 months between the first and second doses and 5-12 months between the second and third doses. However, to achieve protection more quickly, doctors may schedule the second dose 2 weeks after the first one.
A booster vaccination is required after prime vaccination. Consult your doctor on booster vaccinations.
